Gilded Lily

For this project I recorded almost completely by myself as all the recording was done from home. The performers Elizabeth Upton on piano, Nick Hynes on bass, and Lottie Upton on vocals and sequencing. I borrowed a total of 5 microphones (AKG D112, SE 2200a, two AKG 451, and AKG 414) which I used to record piano and bass guitar and my own Audio Technica 802020 for vocals. The rest of the instrumentation are synths (strings, bass, drums, sound effects etc.) which I made, modified or found on Ableton Live 11. After all the recording and sequencing I moved onto editing the piano to be in time. The mixing consisted EQ, balance, panning on everything, reverb on the piano, and a lot of reverb and delay and parallel compression on all vocals to blend them into the mix, and automation. Once I finished mixing I mastered, which consisted of EQ to remove low-mids, vintage tube compression to boost high-mid frequencies, and limiting to get the track to a standard volume. I am very happy with the results.
