Bigmouth Strikes Again

For this project I worked with Chasing the Magpie, band, and Samir Solanki, producer. This piece took us three days in the studio to get finished. Samir and I recorded Josh on drums, Jude on guitar, Elijah on keyboard, and Fin on bass and vocals. After listening to the original song I decided to add multiple synths and piano to enhance the song, I also used a take from Fin's vocal and moved it up 7 semi-tones and another 12 semi-tones. In post production I edited all instruments to be compiled, time corrected and pitch corrected where needed. Once all edited was done I begun to mix the song. The mixing I did consists of parallel compressing the drums, compression on guitar, distortion bass, reverb and delay on the main vocal, the backing vocals had never, delay, chorus, and a Wah-Wah effect, and EQ, compression, automation, balance and panning on everything. For Mixing I always use buses so I can control the amount of effects the original tracks go through better. Mastering consists of EQ, light compression and limiting, and a vintage tube compression which suits the genre. Once I had all the processing done I sent the master to my phone so I could play it through 5 different speakers: good quality surround sound, a bad quality surround sound, the car speakers, my phone speakers, and my headphones. The band was very happy with the end result.
