Sparks

Sparks was a project I worked on almost completely alone as all recording was done from home. During recording I borrowed equipment from college, I borrowed in total six microphones (Audio D6, SE 2200a, AKG D112, two AKG 451, AKG 414). The performers were Elizabeth Upton on piano, Nick Hynes on bass and guitar, and Lottie Upton on vocals. Once all recording was finished I started to edit everything by time correcting and compiling tracks. When mixing this project I listened to the original track for guidance. I added compression, automation, EQ, balance and pan on everything, I put reverb on electric and acoustic guitar, piano and vocals, delay on all vocals. The MIDI instruments (glockenspiel and drums) already had effects such as a chorus and reverb on them, I loved how they sounded so I kept them the way they were. When mastering this song I added EQ (take out some low-mids), compression, a tiny bit of reverb, and limiting. This song is so gorgeous so working on it was very enjoyable.
